This book has absolutely nothing to recommend it. The plot is prosaic, the characters uninteresting, the politics heavy handed and the writing is terrible. Clearly no editor ever read this book. Two examples: a group of foreign dignitaries are referenced as a "contingency of foreign dignitaries." Should be a contingent. In a discussion of the Greek flu coming across the Mexican border, the author states that it came "from Mexico into L.A. and possibly other states." Hate to tell the author that LA is not a state!Don't bother to read this book.

The primary threat used for the foundation of the book is unnerving because everything involving this kind of threat was covered in detail by the author, and is absolutely plausible. 'Greek Flu' was an enjoyable read because it kept me interested in not only the characters the author developed, but the different perspectives given throughout the book - everything from Secret Service to SEAL Team operations as well as terrorist mindsets. I think this book was an entertaining read.
`Greek Flu' is the 2nd in a series of books featuring Dr. Jack Stevens and Dana LaFontaine. It opens with them attending a presidential inauguration as honored guests, receiving the highest civilian medals. The one problem with this is that, unless you have read the first book you are left with some missing information about what really happened. There are hints here and there, but a few paragraphs summarizing would have done much to dispel any confusion for a first time reader of this series, instead of creating frustration.
There are policies of President Kozdronsk described that will appeal to many, but how they could be carried out provides an interesting conundrum to think about. It would be a truly amazing president who would be able to create all these sweeping changes that are described in this book.
But these policies are not the main focus of the book. We are presented with the very real threat of a biological attack that would devastate the US. How is this happening and where are the leaks that lead to murders occurring? There seems to be no one the president can trust to investigate with the exception of Stevens and LaFontaine.
This is another realistic thriller that draws you into its plot, especially if you have the background of the first book. However, we are left hanging, concerning what happened to one of them until the very last sentence of the book. There is no story line telling us what has occurred to one of these main characters. It is as if we are missing part of the plot which could have contained some of the excitement of what had preceded it. It leaves a bit of a touch of frustration and disappointment that we are left out of this part of the story.

I read Presidential Migraines and loved it. Couldn't wait for Greek Flu and it didn't disappoint. I used to read the Vince Flynn novels but now i have a new series to enjoy. Keep writing! Can't wait for the next. cb
Fritz Strobl's latest novel is tantalizing storytelling with a terrorist twist. Strobl's new novel promises a combination of intrigue, suspense, and pure entertainment. A terrific read in all respects. Tom Clancy watch out!
Greek Flu is a fun read. It is well paced and holds your interest from start to finish.
I couldn't put it down. Scary thoughts of what could be done. I believe in the USA and hope that we could survive anything like this.
